Study Authors
This study Beyond World Religions was led and managed by Dr. Lucinda Mosher. It was conceived and overseen by Rabbi Justus Baird through the Center for Multifaith Education at Auburn Seminary. The authors are grateful to seminary interns Eleanor Kilpatrick (Yale Divinity School) and Jennifer Replogle (Princeton Theological Seminary) for their assistance in this project, and to Barrie Mosher for database design and support. The study would not have been possible without the Henry Luce Foundation, which funded this study in large part. LUCINDA ALLEN MOSHER, TH.D., is an ethicist who works on inter-religious matters as a consultant, author, and educator. Dr. Mosher holds degrees from Boston University, the University of Massachusetts (Lowell), Hartford Seminary, and the General Theological Seminary, where she was an Episcopal Church Foundation Fellow. In addition to Auburn Theological Seminary, Mosher has consulted for the Trinity Institute, Columbia University's Middle East Institute, and the Interchurch Center. She is the author of Faith in the Neighborhood (a series from Seabury Books), chapters in several peer-reviewed publications, and a number of articles on multifaith concerns. She has spoken at numerous churches, mosques, and other venues. An accomplished musician, her workshops sometimes combine her expertise in inter-religious understanding and theology with her experience as an arts educator. The founding instructor for the annual Worldviews Seminar at The University of Michigan-Dearborn, Dr. Mosher also teaches the Critical Interpretation component of the Multi-Faith Track of the Doctor of Ministry program at New York Theological Seminary and Auburn. RABBI JUSTUS N. BAIRD has served as the Director of the Center for Multifaith Education at Auburn Theological Seminary in New York City since 2007. He oversees the seminary's multifaith programming which strives to prepare religious leaders for a religiously diverse world. Rabbi Baird was ordained at Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion where he studied as a Wexner Graduate Fellow. He received a B.S. from Rice University and holds a certificate in Strategic Human Resource Management from Harvard Business School. He brings an entrepreneurial approach to his work; before entering rabbinical school he co-founded Questia.com, a successful and far-reaching academic online library. He has taught, preached in, and consulted with seminaries, churches, synagogues, mosques, and interfaith organizations. He teaches the Multifaith Seminar in the Multifaith Doctor of Ministry Program offered by New York Theological Seminary and Auburn and teaches seminarians from a variety of Jewish and Christian theological schools in the NY region. |
