For Seminary Students

The Presbyterian Students Program provides practical and theological preparation for Presbyterian students at Union Theological Seminary seeking ordination in the Presbyterian Church (USA).  Through Auburn, students enrolled in any degree program at Union have access to a “Presbyterian experience” of pastoral formation, which includes:

Vocational Counseling
Auburn helps students reflect on their sense of call and discern the form their ministry should take, including whether to seek ordination to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament.

Academic Guidance
Auburn assists students in plotting out their course choices so that their education meets the requirements for ordination such as instruction in Greek and Hebrew, and biblical exegesis.

Presbyterian Courses
Auburn offers courses through Union in Reformed Theology and Worship and Presbyterian Polity, enriching students' education and ensuring that they have the necessary background for passing their ordination exams.

Ordination Preparation
Auburn guides students as they work to meet the requirements, prepare the materials, and navigate the ordination process with their Committees on Preparation for Ministry.

Field Education Resources
Auburn maintains strong relationships with the Presbyterian congregations in the New York metropolitan area and provides insight into what field education placements might be best suited for each student’s particular needs and goals.

Denominational Activities
Auburn connects Union students with opportunities for learning and service within the Presbyterian Church (USA). Auburn can select Union students as Theological Student Advisory Delegates to the bi-annual meetings of the General Assembly.  Auburn also facilitates applications from Union students for various awards, events, activities, and fellowships that are open to Presbyterian seminary students.

Multifaith Education
Seminary students may also be interested in Auburn's multifaith education programs designed for clergy in formation.
