Coaching for New Senior Pastors

A new leg of The Coaching Institute will address the often-challenging transition of a new pastor into a senior pastor position. Effective leadership of large congregations has an outsized impact on the well-being of the church, as do leadership crises in those congregations. An enormous amount of time, money, and energy goes into calling a new senior pastor for a large congregation.

Moving into a senior pastorate can be a very challenging transition to navigate, particularly for the first time. Often, the new position involves a congregational culture, an organizational structure, and a set of leadership expectations and responsibilities that have not been encountered before. Coaching is particularly well-suited to addressing these challenges. Since coaching is developmental, not remedial, it emphasizes that even the most accomplished performers benefit from the focus and accountability it provides.

By helping senior pastors maximize their effectiveness at the beginning of their calls to large congregations, The Coaching Institute can make an exponentially positive impact not simply on those leaders or congregations, but on denominations that depend on them.
